We regret to say that BIADS is again facing serious financial difficulties. Donations, fundraising and grants have all declined compared to previous years, and we receive no statutory funding. The services we provide such as carer support and activities are funded through grants from charitable trusts however there are many other functions provided by staff and volunteers to keep BIADS working as well as it can such as management, finances, admin and fund raising to name but a few. These functions are paid for, along with rent, rates and utilities from the BIADS’ general fund – donations, fundraising, in memory donations etc. that we have already said are declining because of the state of the economy in general. These functions are the hardest to access funding to pay for but are key to the whole organisation.
The cost of running these functions of BIADS is approximately £15,000 per month, which covers salaries, utilities etc., and our financial reserves are now at their lowest point ever. If we can no longer cover these salaries and operating costs, the core team that holds BIADS together will be lost—significantly affecting all of our services.
