Based in The Old Court House at 12 Regent Street, near to the Interchange, we offer personalised care specifically for people with dementia. Our dementia day centre is now open Monday – Friday from 9am to 4pm. We offer full days, half day and hourly pay as you go sessions. We hope to be open more days in the near future and ultimately seven days a week.
Our Day Centre
We are working very hard to make sure that BIADS’ day centre is the best that it can be. All our staff have been chosen for their caring attitude and experience of working with people with dementia.
The area of the building that we occupy has being renovated to our exact specifications to create a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment.

Our Dementia Day Centre
Our dementia day centre is now open Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm. We offer full days, half day and hourly pay as you go sessions. We hope to be open more days in the near future and ultimately seven days a week.
We offer a full range of activities throughout the day to promote mental stimulation to suit all needs and promote independence.
Our activities include sensory stimulation, painting, chair exercise, table tennis, crafts, sewing, knitting, watching films/TV, reading, dementia jigsaws, dominoes, cards, mindfulness colouring, memory scrapbooking, music, dancing, reminiscing and much more.
We also offer breakfast and lunch while members are at the day centre with lots of tea and biscuits in between.

We understand that it might be difficult for you to allow your relative to come to our day centre without seeing the centre yourself, so why not call us to arrange a visit and have a look round?
Our day centre manager, Ryan, will be on hand to greet you and answer all your questions and we promise you will receive a warm welcome along with a cuppa and some cake!
If you would like to book your relative in for day care we will undertake a full assessment so that we can learn about them and their likes and dislikes before they come to us, and we also offer a FREE trial visit.

Our Dementia Day Centre is in The Old Court House, 12 Regent Street, Barnsley, S70 2EW, in Liddy’s Solicitor’s building with our entrance being to the side of the building just on Eastgate.
We open our centre from 9.00am until 4.00pm.
We are currently open Monday – Friday. We also hope to offer a seven-day-a-week service in the future so watch this space.
We have a drop off point right outside the door where a member of staff will be there to greet you and escort your loved one inside.
We charge £55 per day, £33 for a half day and we also offer a pay-as-you-go rate at £12 per hour.
Yes we do, we offer a free trial visit to everyone to see how they get on.
This can vary depending on which day/days your loved one will be attending, our staff can let you know which days are busier and which days are quieter if this helps.
We require notice of any changes however, we understand that things can come up at short notice so as long as we have availability we will do our best to accommodate you where needed.
The staff and volunteers work the same days each week to make it easier for your loved ones to recognise them and build a rapport however, staff may be switched on occasion to cover annual leave and sickness.
There is no charge to cancel providing you give at least seven days’ notice to do so.
Yes absolutely, all our staff specialise in dementia care and all our volunteers undergo dementia training at the start of their volunteering journey.
Yes, there is always a senior staff member on site who is trained to administer medication.
Yes, we do. We also have a lift and a hoist for members with advanced mobility issues.
Yes, we have two areas in our day centre one for activities and one for relaxation.
Yes, we have a range of activities throughout the week which are matched to the abilities of those attending.
Yes, we cater for all dietary requirements taking the utmost care to prepare food separately and carefully to meet these needs.
