Fantastic news! We’re celebrating after being awarded £231,086 by the Big Lottery Fund to save our activities service.
The grant will be used to develop new activities as well as continuing the current programme which provides holidays, day trips, singing groups, jabadao exercise, gym sessions, life story work and other activities for our members.
Fifty of BIADS’ members on a BIADS’ organised holiday to Llandudno were given the news and their reaction was of relief, happiness and gratitude to the Lottery. As one member said “Coming to BIADS and being part of the BIADS’ family makes my life as a carer easier to cope with. I couldn’t begin to imagine what would have happened to me and my husband if they weren’t there to help us”.
Chief Officer Linda Pattison says: “This is fantastic news as the grant means we can continue to support Barnsley people affected by dementia through our activity programme. While we are over the moon by receiving this grant our carer support service is still under threat so our SOS Carer Support Lifeline appeal will continue.”
