The Census is a survey of the whole population of England and Wales. It takes place every 10 years and the next one is happening on 21st March 2021.
The Census is for everyone. By taking part you can help to inform decisions on services that shape your community, such as health, transport and education.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) runs the Census, and before 21st March they will send everyone a letter in the post with an access code and instructions. The Census questionnaire can then be completed online straight away. If you need a paper survey you can ask for one via the Freephone Helpline.
There will be a range of services to help you fill in your form, including help in different languages, accessible guidance and a contact centre.
If you don’t fill in your survey you will get reminder postcards and a Census Field Officer may call at your house. They will show official ID, socially distance and wear PPE.
