Keeping In Touch Club
If you are no longer giving full time care to a loved one with dementia
If your role as carer ends because your loved one passes away or enters long term care you can often feel abandoned by the services you have been involved with. Also the loss, after what can be many years of caring, of the focus in your life can leave you feeling isolated with bereavement difficulties specific to this illness.
Our group meets regularly to support each other through this period and helps us to get back into mainstream life.
The KIT Club have many accumulated years of experience which they can pass on to their peers still on their journey as well as offer support to each other at this difficult time and beyond.
Our members meet up for lunch and theatre dates, the occasional weekend break away and social day trips. We all want to give something back as a way of helping those that come after us and so take part in awareness raising, campaigning and fundraising for BIADS.
Referral / Criteria
When your full time caring role comes to an end your support worker will give you information about the KIT Club and invite you to attend the group when you feel ready and if you feel it is something you would enjoy.
