A welcome break with friends

Holidays

Become a member of BIADS and find out about the holidays we organise each year.
Get a chance for a break from the everyday routine and join in with new and old friends on a seaside or country holiday where everyone supports each other in a friendly and safe environment.

We have been organising holidays for people with dementia and carers for quite a few years and because our members love them so much we intend to keep on arranging them.  Usually a Monday to Friday break in a seaside or country hotel where the laughter usually starts before we leave Barnsley and then despite any inevitable hiccups continues till our return.  Although BIADS do not provide hands on personal care on holidays we are there to make sure everything runs smoothly and everyone gets the most from the break.  The most powerful thing about our holidays is the support that each and every person gives to each other, whether practically or emotionally.  If you have stopped having regular holidays or find them difficult now why not try a break with your ‘BIADS family’ .

Quote from carers, “After a BIADS holiday I feel ten years younger”  , “It is the light in our tunnel, something to look forward to”

Referral /Criteria

Holidays are for BIADS members, couples where one person has dementia have priority over available places.  Our holidays are very popular and when allocating places BIADS operate a needs led policy which will always see people with dementia and their primary carer being given priority.

Holidaymakers must be physically fit enough to travel and have not been in need of hospitalisation for the month leading up to the holiday.  Where holidays have to be cancelled at short notice BIADS will always try to fill places but as this is not always possible personal travel insurance is recommended.  Holidays are announced in the newsletters and on this website so when books open let us know you are interested in a place and names will be put on file until we allocate places as described above.
