Mikron Theatre Company performed the play ‘Canary Girls’ at the Emmanuel Church on 26th April about two sisters during the first world war and how it affected them and their relationships. Gawber WI arranged the evening and half of the proceeds will come to us. A really interesting play with a very talented cast.
We know it is only May but our Friday morning drop in ladies are working on this year’s fund raiser. As you may remember last year they stripped off for our fabulous calendar. This year they are keeping their clothes on and have asked their grandchildren to design Christmas cards which have been printed. Watch this space for the details of when they go on sale!
On Saturday 30th April our Chairman, Peter Francis, and member, Joan Dawson were presented with the proceeds from the Will I Nivver CD at half time. We are so grateful for the £700 raised and as always we can guarantee that this money stays in Barnsley
We are working in partnership with Mapplewell Village Hall to start a DISC group – this stands for Dementia Inspired Social Club – more details next week
Our annual sponsored walk is coming up on July 10th – please get in touch for a registration form
