We recently contacted our Patron, Michael Dugher, MP, regarding the possibility of blue badges being made available to people with dementia. The rules for issuing these badges are open to interpretation and in some areas dementia is accepted as a reason for having a badge but not in others. Undoubtedly having a blue badge would make the lives of people with dementia and their carers easier.
Michael decided to take this campaign up and so far articles have been included in the Daily Mirror, the Yorkshire Post and the Barnsley Chronicle. Michael has also written to Chris Grayling, Transport Secretary, to ask him to look at this issue so watch this space!
